Blog Assignment #2 week

A Vision of Students Today

Wow, this video hit the topic right on the head. The metaphors, certain placement of item and signs made this video interesting and mind opening. I can defiantly relate and agree with the video a 100 percent. The best part is when they shared the information about the text books. How there is another edition to every book with the same information. The whole point is for the companies to make money. The video can be very informal to freshmen coming into the lifestyle we call college. It can set the tone for what they can respect and mistake them can learn from and not make.

It's not about the technology

Mrs. Kelly brings up a great point in “It’s not about the technology”. Sometimes as a culture we tend to based knowledge off of what other people said. We fail to learn the appropriate way to use the technology. Just because we see someone else with it we want it, with understanding all the great benefits. Before going out the purchase a new mp3, ipod, iPhone or laptop we should learn how to use them and an effect manner. Yes, technology can be exciting and extremely helpful but learn how to use them properly will make the new gadget a great investment rather than a new toy.

Is It Okay To Be A Technologically Illiterate Teacher?

In my opinion, Mr. Fisch handling the situation the best way anybody should, blunt and truthfully. In present time it is of the up most important that an instructor be technology literate. Smart boards in the classroom can only help if the teacher is technology sounded enough to operate it effectively. Some circles might take offense to the honest and charismatic Mr. Fisch views on technological literate teacher. I believe the people who do take offense are just not use to change and stuck in their ways. Different digital tools are being invented everyday that can dramatically change and help the way we teach. Classes will be need for teacher and students to catch everyone up on technology so our education system can prosper.

4. Gary Hayes Social Media Count

Social Media will defiantly have a effect on the way we teach in the future. Social Media offer tools that we could dream of having before. Things like facebook and myspace can be use as a place to talk about class work. Students can write blogs about school assignment and the teacher can comment in order to help the students better understand the topic. Simple this like texting a teacher about assignment can make things a lot more easier for both parties.A course there is negative attributes of the social media count being on the uprise but if we master them the good will out weigh the bad.

Education is Killing Creativity /Harnest Your Students Digital Smarts

EDUCATION IS KILLING CREATIVITY

I completely agree with Mr. Ken Robinson presentation on how school is killing our children creativity. In my opinion, creativity is what makes people unique. If every student was the same the children would not learn how to adapt to different personality, which would defiantly harm them in their future endeavors. The classroom seems to be telling students that they can’t do certain things when it comes to creativity. This mind frame is limiting our students mind. I firmly believe that in order to be great you must be creative. Actually, I will go even deeper to say that the purpose of life is to create! To invent, to conquer, to master all come from the creativity of a person mind. Classroom teachers should not only not hinder a student creativity but they should expand on it.

HARNEST YOU STUDENT DIGITAL SMARTS

It is nice to see teachers show students how to accomplish classroom task through technology. With our children being born in such a digital rule society, it only makes sense to use computer in the classroom to keep them interested. In present time, schedules and purchasing books are done online, so that proves that computers are part of education and student should have a wide range of knowledge when it comes to computer software.

Mr.Winkle Wakes

The video "Mr.Winkle Wakes" gives good insight on all of the advances in modern technology. It talked about how these new devices are used in the work place (i.e. computers, printers, and fax machines) and health facilities (i.e resperators, EKGs, and X-rays). The main characters of this new world, because he has just awaken from a 100-year sleep, and is not used to all of these advances. But, Mr.Winkle found one place that has not advanced with the times technologically: the local school. Students were still using pencils and paper to painstakingly do assignments instead of computers that will make the work much easier.

This video shed light on a very important issue. How is that we have advance technology in these other places but not in educational institutions? And since we don't have them in schools, how can people learn to use these devices properly? Mr. Winkle being happy to see that school have not changed represents conformity for those who don't know anything about technology, which is a bad thing. Conformity brings about ignorance and we can't ignorance and we can't broaden our horizons this way.
